"What just happened to me?" He exclaimed in surprise. "I believe I just experienced a ... feeling! Nothing like that has happened since I was among the living. It felt so very familiar...as if... I remember it now! It was fear. When I moved close to you, I felt your fear. How could this be?"

"I wasn't afraid." I protested. "I'm just a little edgy. I've been up all night. And we ran out of decaffeniated coffee."

Jonathan drifted over to Ty and leaned next to him.

"Near you, I am feeling...elation and excitement." He declared happily. "This is glorious. Do you feel any negative affects? Is it your machine that causes this wonder to happen? How does it work?"

"To tell you the truth, I didn't invent the it." Ty told him. "It was created by a psychologist who knew he was dying and wanted to return to prove the existence of the after life. We weren't even sure it would work. As far as negative effects, I felt none. How about you Uncle William?"

"I don't believe I was afraid." I repeated. "I'm just a little jumpy from not enough sleep."

"Where is this person now?" Jonathan asked. "Has he crossed over?"

"Yes,he died just last week." Ty answered. "We were attempting to call him here tonight."

"It takes some time to get accustomed to being dead." Jonathan said thoughtfully. "There is usually a recovery time for new arrivals and perhaps this person cannot come yet. What was he known as? I will seek him out when I return."

"Professor Frank Mitchell. He was short, thin and had grey hair." Ty said. "I know that isn't much information, but maybe I could find a photograph."

"That won't be necessary, I will find him. This is a most wondrous thing, to feel again and already the word of it is spreading on the other side."

"Are you saying that because of that machine you can share the emotions of living people?" Elizabeth broke in as she wrapped her arms around her bosom as if she were suddenly undressed. "I think that's disgusting! Feelings are private things, not meant to be shared with anyone. Especially not a dead person, no offense Jonathan."

"Liz, please." Ty snapped. "Forgive her Jonathan, I assure you most rational people don't think like she does."

Elizabeth's mouth dropped open to object but I interrupted.

"Actually, I was thinking the same thing, Ty. It makes me uncomfortable as well to think of sharing my feelings with anyone, particulary a spook."

"Uncle William, where's your sense of humanity. These people, and that's what they are... or were; can no longer experience the greatest gift of humankind. Feelings. Like the breath of a puppy against your cheek or the warmth of the sun. What an empty world this would be without physical sensations."

"Oh you're just a kid who does't know anything. I haven't had a physical sensation in twenty years and I feel fine about it."

"To me it's like reading someone's diary." Liz declared indignantly. "What I write or feel is personal."

"Please don't quarrel." Jonathan said. "I must return to my side now and chat about this with others. Many are extremely excited at the prospects. Think about it and talk it over amongst yourselves. Then have Madam Helena summon me when you have decided. Goodbye for now."
