You have been sent in a shuttle, on a one person
away mission to see what was on the other side of a wormhole....

It is highly unusual for Captain Picard to assign one person to a mission like this and you feel it is likely that the reason is either because everyone says you sound just like him, or maybe because he overheard you referring to him as.... "Captain Cueball"....

As the wormhole closed behind you, you thought you heard Picard laughing over the comm. Now all you hear is static and the steady drone of the impulse engines.

So... Here you are all alone in the Delta Quadrant in a shuttlecraft. You have no idea as to when, or if, the wormhole will reappear, and this shuttle is not designed for extended missions. Suddenly your long range sensors detect a warp signature that could be a Federation ship, as unlikely as that is.

Of course it is impossible to make a positive determination from this distance, and if you leave here and go searching for the source of the signature, which could just be a sensor glitch, you may not be able to find the exact spot the wormhole will appear again. If it does appear again... Maybe it would be better to wait here or go explore the Delta quadrant by yourself.

How long are you going to wait? I would try a different option if I were you.....
